Tribute to Automobiles

(The original love/hate relationship)

Cars are like members of the family. When they're new, you pamper them, change them at regular intervals (their oil that is). When they act up, you adjust their attitude with various suitable implements. Then when they get old, you sell them. Oh, hm, guess they aren't that much like members of the family after all. So much for that explanation of my interest in them. Must be more of a cross between morbid curiosity and penchant for doing things the hard way. Anyway, this page is about various vehicles, starting with the ones I have or have had, and maybe some others just because they are cool. :-)

This is what Jeeps are for!

The 1998 Jeep Cherokee, 4.0L I-6, 4x4 stick shift. A marvel of modern technology originally conceptualized by the American Motor Corporation (AMC) in 1982 but not seeing production until 1984, after their acquisition by the Chrysler Corporation. The engine block design has its roots in the Jeeps of WWII, but has since been upgraded with such niceties as electronic fuel injection. Mine also benefits from the addition of a Flowmaster Delta 40 muffler. It runs Amsoil pure synthetic oil and with 125,000 miles on it doesn't burn a drop. It breathes easier due to a K&N FIPK intake and S&B filter. A sound system upgrade on this vehicle is also a must, although they don't give you much to work with in terms of speaker locations and amp hiding spots. These days the Jeep is showing it's age however, and I'm spending more and more time under it, and less and less time in it. Some backup transportation was in order...

The 1988 Honda Hawk GT 650. "But that's even older" you object. Ah yes, BUT it's a Honda :-). And what was honda making before they started making very reliable cars? Very reliable motorcycles of course! This particular one has close to 50,000 miles on it, and has been laid down once or twice, so it's a bit rough around the edges. However it runs strong and is saving me alot on gas comparatively speaking. My improvements include... not much, it came pretty well equiped from the factory. Have installed headlight and brakelight modulators, added a small windscreen, and switched it over to Amsoil, but that is about it.

nice...

2006+ Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. Now that is a beautiful car! 512 HP 5L V-10 with AWD in something the size of a Ford Focus. Wahoo! Not to mention the 93 million miles of headroom ;-)

2005+ Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Not only the best looking car on the road, also the best sounding!

2004+ Ferrari F430 Spyder. Grrrrrrrrr!

TVR Tuscan S Convertable. HUGE fun!

1998-2003 BMW M5. The one before they made it look like a Kia. It's a really classy machine.

2003-2006 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. Wouldn't mind having another of these. The AFA Ford boycott would have to be resolved first though.
